Wallcovering for Hotels and Restaurants in Metro Atlanta: Planning a Project
Hotel and restaurant wallcovering projects succeed when the material, schedule and access are planned before install day. Corridors and guest rooms usually call for Type II commercial vinyl, restaurants need washable surfaces and code-compliant fire ratings, and occupied properties are done in phases or after hours so guests and diners are not disturbed.
In short
- Specify the material type and fire rating early with the designer or architect.
- Plan phases: floors, wings or dining areas closed one at a time.
- After-hours and weekend work keeps restaurants and hotels open.
- Quantity, delivery and storage on site are part of the plan.
Typical project steps
- Specs and drawings. Confirm material, width, fire rating and adhesive.
- Quantities. Calculated from elevations, including waste and attic stock.
- Site walk. Wall condition, access, power and storage.
- Schedule. Phasing plan agreed with the GC and property manager.
- Prep and install. Area by area, with protection of finished spaces.
- Punch list and handoff. Walkthrough, touch-ups, leftover rolls labeled.
Hotels
Corridors take luggage carts and housekeeping carts every day; Type II vinyl is the usual spec there. Guest rooms often use Type I or Type II depending on brand standards. Work is typically phased by floor so rooms can stay in service.
Restaurants
Dining areas need washable surfaces near tables and service stations, and feature walls often use murals or specialty materials. Work is scheduled after closing or on closed days so the restaurant stays open.
Attic stock
Commercial projects usually keep spare rolls on site for future repairs. Rolls from a later batch may not match, so attic stock should come from the original order.
